The Joy and the Heartache
Countless songs have been written about love and romance, both the joys and the pains. Choosing a single greatest is probably impossible, if only because it varies not just with the listener but with their mood. The best love song when you've just met someone new will be very different to the song with sad lyrics that you play constantly after a break-up.
Still, some love songs are undoubtedly classics. So on this page I've tried to pull together a short shortlist of songs that are generally accepted as being the greatest - plus, of course, my own favourites. Feel free to add to the list, let's see if we can collect the top 100.

If there's ever a time for romantic music and love songs it's Valentine's Day - February the 14th. Over a billion Valentine cards are exchanged worldwide every year! Then there are all the flowers and boxes of chocolates we all buy.The main symbol of Valentine's Day - apart from the heart - is probably Cupid with his bow. Cupid was the Roman equivalent of Greek God Eros, God of passion.
Whether it comes from the bow of Cupid or Eros, the arrow of love can strike at any time.
